It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our long-time Editor-in-Chief (1993–2014), Professor A. K. Md. Ehsanes Saleh, an Emeritus Professor at the School of Mathematics and Statistics, Carleton University. Prof. Saleh died peacefully, at the age of 91, in Ottawa, Canada, after fighting for some days against health-related issues.
Prof. Saleh served the Journal of Statistical Research (JSR) as the Editor-in-Chief from 1993 to 2014. During his over two decades of dedicated service, JSR grew in stature and influence, attracting submissions from prominent statisticians and researchers worldwide. Under his steadfast leadership, the journal flourished and became one of the scholarly journals in the field of statistical theory and applications, publishing groundbreaking research from around the world.
Beyond his role as an editor, Prof. Saleh was known for his extensive contributions to the field of statistics. His own research work in various areas of statistical theory and methodology had a profound impact, earning him accolades and recognition from his peers and colleagues. Prof. Saleh’s legacy extends far beyond the pages of the journal. His mentorship, generosity, and dedication to the statistical community have left an indelible imprint on the lives and careers of countless statisticians and researchers.
Our deepest condolences go out to Prof. Saleh’s family, friends, and colleagues. His memory will forever be cherished, and his impact will resonate throughout the world of statistics.
